What's new at Myer - May 2025

It's been a big month for Myer's personal fragrance section, so we've put together a run-down of what's landed in stores and online.

Sohum Fragrances- Newstalgia Collection

SOHUM is a Australian family business, with all their products made in Melbourne. Their 'Newstalgia' fragrance collection is described by the brand as "blending nostalgia with a modern twist" taking classic scents and "capturing the essence of tradition while infusing it with a vibrant, new energy."

The fragrances each center around once scent; Yuzu, Gardenia, Peony, Green Tea & Woods.

Viktor & Rolf 'Flowerbomb Extreme Intense' 

The original 'Flowerbomb' is a floral fragrance comprising orchid, jasmine and rose, paired with a prominent patchouli base. This was followed by the limited edition 'Flowerbomb Extreme' in 2013, which had similar floral and patchouli notes, with the addition of vanilla. Now, 'Flowerbomb Extreme Intense' does away with the florals and the patchouli, and offers a gourmand sweet-vanilla-raspberry fragrance.

Juliette Has a Gun 'Miami Shake'

Unable to resist the pull of the TikTok 'gourmand girlies', Juliette Has a Gun have created a sweet strawberry milkshake fragrance with notes of wild strawberry, ice cream, whipped cream and vanilla. Some have likened this fragrance to Hubba Bubba and strawberry soda.

Gucci 'Bloom Parfum'

The original 'Bloom' is a jasmine and tuberose, linear floral fragrance. With this new flanker, Gucci combines the jasmine note with amber, vanilla and balsam to create a warmer, deeper twist on the original. 

Elizabeth Arden 'White Tea Eau Lilac'

This flanker is joining a line of fragrances featuring, and named for, the note of white tea. Despite that fact, you won't find tea in this new fragrance. Instead, 'White Tea Eau Lilac' is a watery, fresh lilac and wisteria fragrance.

Dolce & Gabbana 'Light Blue Capri In Love' 

In addition to the gorgeous packaging, this fragrance has deliciously refreshing notes of jasmine tea and green apple. 

Akro Fragrances

Akro is the creation of perfumer Oliver Cresp described as "capturing the essence of a hit, a high, a rush - the taste of everyday pleasures". Eleven fragrances have landed at Myer, for example 'Bake' which smells like a lemon cupcake, 'Rise' which smells like a Pina Colada, and 'Haze' which smells like a blend of mint, absinthe and eucalyptus. 

 

Kylie Cosmetics 'Cosmic 2.0'

The original Cosmic by Kylie Cosmetics was a safe, clean musk fragrance. With Cosmic 2.0, the brand has branched out in the safest way and made a similarly powdery fragrance centered around a sweet vanilla orchid accord. 

Initio 'Power Self' and 'Narcotic Delight'

Initio describes 'Power Self' as "A unique formula scientifically designed to positively boost mental and emotional strength through targeted olfactory stimulation." They claim to have harnessed the "direct connection between fragrances and the brain's sensory receptors". If this is the case, I wonder what the entire history of personal fragrance has been built upon if not our brains responding to olfactory reception. Skepticism aside, for $500 a bottle I am sure this fragrance will get your sensory receptors firing pretty hard. 'Narcotic Delight' by comparison does not make claims of pushing scientific boundaries, instead aims to be simply an exciting, sweet and juicy cherry fragrance. 

 

Chloé 'Nomade Lumiere d'Egypte'

This line is so interesting, and this particular fragrance complements the 'Nomade Nuit d'Egypte' to create a pairing representative of a journey through Egypt during the day, and then the night. The original 'Nomade' is an earthy, fruity fragrance featuring oakmoss, sandalwood, mirabelle and freesia. Then you get 'Nomade Nuit d’Egypte' in which the brand replaced the earthy facets with a heart of orange blossom, but supplemented its' original deepness with myrrh and opoponax. Now, 'Nomade Luminere d'Egypte' has taken out much of the deep resinous aspects of the previous flankers and instead presents a watery jasmine fragrance.

 

Marc Jacobs 'Daisy Wild Eau So Intense' 

This is an interesting fragrance. The prominent note is banana leaf, which is a green leafy accord with some tropical fruity nuances. In addition to the banana flower, jasmine is a prominent note. Some people are saying this smells like a banana candy, and others say it smells like freshly cut grass. Altogether, it seems to be a very similar fragrance to Daisy Wild, with an assumedly longer life on your skin.
