How ScentBound works

Our goal

ScentBound was created with the goal of helping Australians find a fragrance they love. So much content online about perfumes is made by and for people in other countries. Unfortunately, fragrances are difficult to import into our country and our fragrance market differs a lot to that of America or Europe. We have created a list of most fragrances available to purchase in Australia and compiled as much information about them as possible. Not just the notes listed online, but what the average person actually smells in them. Not only that, but we know how difficult it is to sample fragrances. You should always try before you buy, but most Australians can't conveniently sample fragrances. This is why we offer one-week samples of many fragrances.

Concentration ratings

The fragrances you purchase in an atomiser bottle are a mixture of perfume oils (the nice smelling stuff) and an alcohol. Our concentration rating is based on the formulation of the fragrance, from cologne to parfum or above.

1 Star: Cologne. Usually contains 2-4% fragrance oil.
2 Stars: Eau De Toilette. Usually contains 10-12% fragrance oil.
3 Stars: Eau De Parfum. Usually contains 15-20% fragrance oil.
4 Stars: Extrait De Parfum. Usually contains 30% or more fragrance oil.

Price ratings

Fragrances are luxury goods, and their prices often reflect that. While more expensive fragrances may use higher quality perfume oils, that does not mean that you have to spend more to find a beautiful fragrance. We include a price rating on all fragrances to help you find a signature fragrance within your budget.

1 Star: <$100
2 Stars: $100-$250
3 Stars: $250+

Availability ratings

We hate that feeling when you hear about a perfume you'd love to buy and then when you go to find it, you can't track it down. Our availability ratings give you a clue about how easy it will be to purchase that fragrance on the Australian market.

1 Star: This fragrance exists, we swear. However you might have to do some digging to get your hands on it.
2 Stars: You will probably have to purchase this online, but it shouldn't be hard to find.
3 Stars: Major chemists or grocery stores stock this fragrance. You should find it pretty easy to purchase in person or online.
Fragrance Sample Boxes
We offer one-week (2ml) samples of many fragrances, and we're always expanding our range. These samples are cleanly decanted from their original bottles and hand-labelled in-house. We hate the feeling of spending money (especially shipping fees!) on one sample only for it to disagree with our skin chemistry. That's why our boxes are designed to fit three samples. Simply add three samples (or six, or nine, or...) to your cart to create your custom box(es).
